Our expertise #

We specialise in embedded real-time audio architectures for digital musical instruments, ultra low latency applications, audio interfaces, custom musical controllers, and general DSP systems, but our experience spans a diverse range of industries. Previous consultancy projects include musical devices, entertainment systems, automotive sound systems, consumer products and health and wellbeing technologies.

Custom hardware designs #

We can integrate Bela with custom hardware such as control interfaces, wireless communication, pre-amplification, level shifting, custom audio front ends, and much more.

We also offer custom design of single-board, ready-for-manufacture computers for your project, as well as custom sensor design for touch interaction based on our Trill capacitive sensor range.

Custom software development #

We can develop custom code based on the Bela software for your application. We can also develop firmware to support specialist pieces of hardware, and custom user interfaces for interacting with embedded code running on the Bela platform.

Manufacturing consultancy #

We can handle design for manufacture, including factory tests, and BOM selection and optimisation for part availability and cost. We work with both open source licences in closed source products.

Manufacturing partner #

We can facilitate small to medium scale manufacturing with our trusted partners, taking you the whole way through the process from design to product.

Licensing #

All Bela products are open source, which means the code is available for anyone to download, inspect, and use with attribution. This means if you want to use Bela software or hardware designs in your product for free, you have to attribute it to Bela and make your adapted code available for others to use.

If you want to buy our products and use them in commercial applications, this doesn’t require a license, and we encourage you to contact us to discuss quantity purchasing. However, if you want to use Bela software or hardware designs for commercial use without attribution (such as in a product for sale), you will need a license.
